Perennial River
Omaruru Game Park is in the Namib-Naukluft National Park just east of the National West Coast Tourist Recreational Area, Namibia
Namibia is the driest country in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world. Its sand dunes, the highest in the world, are created by strong offshore winds from the Atlantic Ocean. The average rainfall per year is just 14 inches. Most rivers in Namibia are perennial or dry rivers. The surface of these rivers is sand. The water is underground.
I took this photograph of a perennial river north of Platz Am Meer, near the Omaruru Game Park while flying over the Namib-Naukluft National Park on my way from Little Kuala Camp to Skeleton Coast Camp in Namibia on June 28, 2019.
